It’s no accident that we’re connecting in this virtual space today.  While you are here, I’d like to express my gratitude for your presence here, and introduce a church that strives to be the “premiere” Christ-centered fellowship with a holistic approach to ministry.  New Hope MBC members strive to meet the needs of God’s people while holding fast to godly principles, patterns and practices that are biblically based.  Truly, we want to meet you where you are.  Whether you are broken physically, financially, emotionally and/or spiritually, we’re here to serve as your catalyst to Christ.

It’s first pastor, Reverend Raymond L. Lathan, migrated from the South, and united with Tabernacle Baptist Church upon his arrival in Milwaukee, WI. Soon after, Rev. Lathan accepted the role of pastor at Abyssinia Baptist Church, located at 1117 W. Lloyd Street, which was later renamed New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

During the 1950’s, New Hope moved to 538 W. Galena Street due to a rapid growth in membership.  The church established a radio presence in the 1960’s with a live broadcast, “Wings Over Wisconsin,” which showcased the best in gospel music and lasted for nearly 16 years. In 1973, New Hope moved to 2464 W. Atkinson Avenue where Reverend Lathan continued to shepherd the congregation until his retirement in 1994. Pastor Lathan and his wife, John Ella Lathan, were both honored with emeritus titles prior to their home goings.

Rev. Lathan’s successor and the current pastor, Dr. Archie L. Ivy, accepted his leadership role in 1995. Four years later, Pastor Ivy’s vision to better serve the surrounding community was realized through a major building expansion designed to better engage the surrounding  community. Upon its completion, New Hope embarked upon mission-based work in urban Milwaukee. In 2003, Triangle of Hope – a nonprofit subsidiary – was formed to empower individuals and families through strategic partnerships that provide wrap-around services.

Today, New Hope is a strong, Christ-centered fellowship. Our commitment to community outreach continues to transform lives through the power of God and the gospel message of hope, healing and forgiveness. As we look to the future, we are poised to accomplish more great works.  Working together, we will prosper while fulfilling our collective purpose on a local, national, and global scale.

About Us

OUR PASTOR

For with Christ, there is nothing that we can’t overcome.  Healing is possible.  Victory is possible.  Life, more abundantly, is possible. The Bible tells us in Matthew 19:26, “… with God all things are possible.”

You are in my prayers, and I hope that our paths cross in the near future.        - Dr. Archie L. Ivy, Pastor

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church

What we believe.

The Bible
We believe the Bible is the infallible, inspired  Word of God, and the authority on which we base our faith, conduct and doctrine.

The Trinity
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to earth as the Savior of the world.

Salvation
We believe Jesus died on the cross and shed His  blood for our sins, and that faith in Him is sufficient for salvation. We believe Jesus rose from the dead and will return again one day.

Water Baptism
We believe water baptism is an act of faith that signifies the cleansing power of the blood of Christ.

Communion
We believe in the regular taking of Communion in remembrance of what the Lord Jesus did for us on the cross.

Growing Relationship
We believe every believer should be in a growing relationship with Jesus by obeying God's Word, yielding to the Holy Spirit, and demonstrating G
od’s love through Christian service.
